Technology companies are looking to the Union Budget 2026–27 to deliver a strong push for artificial intelligence, innovation-led growth, and expansion of digital infrastructure, along with improved liquidity to accelerate AI adoption across sectors.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Budget in Parliament on Sunday. Ahead of it, the Economic Survey tabled on January 29 has positioned Artificial Intelligence as a long-term economic strategy rather than a prestige-driven technology race. The Survey advocated a bottom-up, sector-specific approach based on open and interoperable systems to enable collaboration and shared innovation.

Former Tech Mahindra CEO and Co-founder and Vice Chairman of AI firm AIONOS, CP Gurnani, said the Survey captures India’s AI potential by leveraging its strong talent base, diverse data assets, and focus on domain-specific models suited to local needs. He noted that India’s opportunity lies in developing affordable, human-centric AI solutions that address domestic challenges and can later scale globally.

Logistics technology firm FarEye said the industry expects Budget measures that enhance reliability and global competitiveness, with a focus on autonomous logistics orchestration. Chief Business Officer Suryansh Jalan highlighted the need for incentives for applied AI, advanced planning systems, and interoperable digital workflows to unlock productivity across multimodal networks. He added that while the logistics sector is projected to create nearly 10 million jobs by 2027, the emphasis must shift toward productivity and technology readiness through targeted skilling.

GlobalLogic, the IT services arm of the Hitachi Group, termed the Budget a crucial moment to move from “digital-first” to “intelligence-first” infrastructure. Vice President and Asia Pacific Head Piyush Jha said the next phase should focus on embedding intelligence into physical infrastructure after building strong digital public platforms.
