International Buddhist Peace Conference from March 27 in Hyd

An International Buddhist Conference on World Peace–2026 will be held from March 27 to 29 in Hyderabad and Buddhavanam at Nagarjunasagar, aiming to promote global peace and strengthen cultural ties among Buddhist nations. The event is being organised by Buddhavanam, a unit of the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation, in association with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

Nearly 150 delegates from 22 countries, including India, Japan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, France and Germany, will participate and present papers on Buddhist philosophy and peace-building.

The conference will be inaugurated at 10 am on March 27 at The Plaza Hotel, Begumpet. Telangana Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao and Sri Lanka’s Minister for Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Prof. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi will attend as chief guests, along with several international dignitaries and spiritual leaders.

The inaugural session will be presided over by Kranti Valluri, Managing Director of Telangana Tourism Development Corporation. Most Ven. Dr. Thich Nhat Tu will deliver the inaugural address, while Prof. Siddharth Singh, Vice Chancellor of Nava Nalanda Mahavihara, will give the keynote address. The welcome address will be delivered by Mallapelli Laxmaiah, Special Officer of the Buddhavanam Project.

The conference seeks to position Buddhavanam as a global Buddhist heritage destination and encourage Buddhist countries to establish monasteries and institutions, boosting tourism and cultural engagement with South-East Asia.
