I HYD:The air if rife with the Jubilee Hills by-poll in Hyderabad but are the Gen Z even interested? Metro India spoke to a few. Sri Ambuja, a student from St. Joseph’s Degree & PG College said, “I am aware of the elections but not sure why it is being conducted now.”Meanwhile her fellow classmate Aditi Sriram shared that the elections are being held as results  of the  death of a previous BRS  MLA.

On safe transport

Opinions are divided as few girl students feel the auto is a safe bet, while others give a thumbs up to metro train service. Bhoomika Gawde, a student from  Villa Marie Degree College   said that she often uses the metro to travel and finds it comfortable.

“I find autos  more safe for young girls  as my sister travels by auto where she shares her live location whenever she travels, which makes it easier for me to  track her location  through an app”  Abhinit Raj.

On street food

Youngsters are gung-ho on street food but are aware of the side-effects. Anvitha Kontham , a student from St. Joseph’s Degree and PG College  said,   “ that she and her friends eat street food every weekend and she feels it's safe to consume but it depends on the place you're consuming.”

When asked where does the President of India stay some said that the primary and permanent official residence is the Rashtapati Nilayam which is located in New Delhi. The President has an official office in the twin cities but it's a winter retreat not a permanent office. Abhinav Pramod, a student from St.Joseph’s Degree and PG said, “that the president does not have any permanent office in the twin cities . While other classmates are not  much aware about it. Majority of them shared her views that they are not aware of a permanent office which is located in New Delhi.

On vote chori

Vote Chori happens when someone tries to influence or change election results dishonestly. Instead of letting people vote freely and fairly, some individuals or groups try to manipulate or steal votes.

It destroys the fairness of elections. In a democracy, every vote counts, and elections must reflect the true will of the people. If votes are stolen or faked, the wrong leaders can come to power-and that harms the nation.

MD Abbad, a student of St. Joseph’s Degree and PG College, said that Rahul Gandhi had raised the issue of the BJP allegedly generating fake votes during elections. Tahura Jabeen, a student of St. Francis Degree and PG College said that Vote Chori also involves buying votes and manipulating EVM machines to influence election results.

As of November 2025, Telangana does not have a specific appointed Home Minister. The portfolio for Law & Order, which typically falls under the home ministry, is currently held by the Chief Minister, Anumula Revanth Reddy.

The Chief Minister handles all portfolios not specifically allocated to other ministers, including General Administration and Law & Order. Recent news articles in November 2025 have focused on other cabinet activities and appointments, such as Mohammed Azharuddin taking charge as Minister for Minority Affairs and Public Enterprises, and a new bill for gig workers, but no new home minister appointment has been mentioned.

This confusion highlights that while young people are active on social media and aware of trending issues, they often do not follow real political updates or know who manages important government departments like Home, Health, or Finance.

 SHE Team

Neelam Mythri, a student of Keys Degree College, said that SHE Teams extend timely assistance to girls in distress and provide contact numbers for help, particularly during late hours. Siddiq Akbar Khan, a student of St. Joseph’s Degree and PG College, said that the main objective of SHE team is to stop harassment in public places.

Most of the students gave similar answers about the responsibilities of the SHE Teams. They said that the teams ensure women’s safety by preventing harassment in public places and responding quickly to complaints. Students also appreciated the active role of the police in making women feel secure, especially at night.

Assembly elections

The legislative assembly elections currently taking place are in the state of Bihar, India. The Bihar Assembly elections are being held in two phases: the second and final phase of voting is happening on November 11, 2025.  Other states mostly have their assembly elections either completed (e.g., Delhi in February 2025) or scheduled for later years (2026-29) in the next cycle.

Many students correctly stated that the ongoing Legislative Assembly elections are taking place in Bihar. They showed awareness about the current political developments and the importance of participating in the democratic process.
