Metro India News | Hyderabad : Joint problems are no longer confined to older people, with changing lifestyles, obesity and inadequate physical activity contributing to musculoskeletal complaints across age groups, doctors at KIMS Hospitals, Kompally, said. They stressed the importance of early diagnosis and timely treatment to prevent symptoms from worsening and affecting daily activities. Marking World Arthritis Day on October 12, free consultations were offered to the first 100 eligible patients aged 40 years and above, as well as to patients who had previously undergone surgery.

Consultant orthopedic and sports surgeons Dr Sai Phani Chandra, Dr D. Hariprakash, Dr Chaitanya Kishore and Dr Roshan Kumar Jaiswal said prolonged sitting, lack of regular exercise and increasing body weight were among the lifestyle-related factors that could contribute to joint problems.  The doctors clarified that not every joint problem requires surgery. They stated that clinical evaluation and investigations, including X-rays or other imaging tests when indicated, help determine the most suitable treatment.  Emphasizing preventive care, the doctors advised people to maintain a healthy body weight, engage in regular physical activity and perform exercises that strengthen the muscles supporting the joints.
