Kavitha declares Telangana Jagruthi as catalyst for social revolution

If the Governor refuses to promulgate the bills as ordinances, the state government should approach the Supreme Court for intervention

Telangana Jagruthi President and BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has declared that Telangana Jagruthi will act as a catalyst for a social revolution in the state, alongside a cultural transformation. Inspired by Professor K. Jayashankar’s vision, the organisation is committed to achieving a “social Telangana,” she said, ensuring that no issue affecting the marginalized communities will be overlooked.

Kavitha made these remarks on Wednesday during the celebrations held at the Telangana Jagruthi headquarters in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, marking both the organisation's foundation day and the birth anniversary of Telangana ideologue Professor Jayashankar. On the occasion, she hoisted the National Flag and the Telangana Jagruthi flag and paid floral tributes to Jayashankar’s portrait.

Speaking to the media, MLC Kavitha recalled how Professor Jayashankar consistently advocated for not just a geographical Telangana, but a social Telangana, with a focus on backward classes (BCs). She said he had envisioned a social revolution in the context of globalisation and the decline of traditional livelihoods under corporate influence. Telangana Jagruthi, she asserted, is pursuing that very vision today.

Kavitha demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy lead an all-party delegation to New Delhi to secure Presidential assent for the pending BC reservation bills. She stressed that if the Governor refuses to promulgate the bills as ordinances, the state government should approach the Supreme Court for intervention. Without such serious efforts, mere speeches will amount to nothing but betrayal of the BC community, she warned.

Kavitha also called on Revanth Reddy to write to the state presidents of all political parties seeking their support in this matter. Accusing both the BJP and the Congress of working together to deceive the backward classes, Kavitha criticised the BJP for its alleged anti-BC policies. She claimed the BJP was actively trying to take away the rights and opportunities meant for BC communities and that the people are well aware of the party’s agenda.

The BRS MLC further questioned the state government’s silence over whether Muslim reservations are included in the proposed 42 percent quota for BCs. She expressed surprise that Union Minister Bandi Sanjay appeared to have prior knowledge about the inclusion before the state issued any clarification.

Kavitha concluded with a warning that Telangana BCs would give a fitting reply to both BJP and Congress for "playing political dramas" over reservations.
