Telangana Jagruti founder president and BRS party MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha was arrested while staging a protest at Bus Bhavan along with Telangana Jagruti activists on Tuesday. She demanded immediate reduction in the increased bus pass prices by the TGSRTC management. 

However, the police stopped her attempt and arrested her. Kavitha protested the attempts of the police to arrest her and sat on the road. This caused a huge traffic jam. Students under the leadership of BRSV State president Gellu Srinivas Yadav today staged a dharna at Bus Bhavan demanding a reduction in the increased bus pass charges. The police detained Gellu Srinivas Yadav, vice-president Padala Satish, Kadari Swami Yadav, as well as BRSV cadres and students, who took part in the dharna.

Speaking on the occasion, Gellu Srinivas Yadav said increasing the RTC bus pass charges would put a financial burden on poor students. “Each student is facing a burden of Rs 250 to Rs 350. No such burden was imposed on the students during KCR's tenure as chief minister,” he said.

Gellu Srinivas Yadav lashed out at the Revanth government for providing free bus facility to women and causing severe hardship to the students by not increasing the number of buses on the one hand and increasing the fares on the other hand. He said he was demanding that the Congress government immediately cancel the increased bus fares.
