The Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Tuesday accused the BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) party of deliberately obstructing industrial development in the state, thereby jeopardizing employment opportunities for youth and hampering the state’s economic progress. Addressing the media at the Telangana Secretariat on Tuesday, the Minister condemned what he described as politically motivated attempts by the BRS to derail the Congress government’s efforts to attract major investments and industrial ventures to Telangana.

Referring specifically to the recent opposition to the ethanol factory proposed in Alampur of the Jogulamba Gadwal district, Sridhar Babu alleged that the protests were instigated by BRS leaders with the sole intention of stalling a project that could generate jobs and spur local development. He drew parallels to the violent agitations witnessed a few months ago during the land acquisition process for industrial parks in Kodangal, asserting that both instances reflect a larger pattern of deliberate disruption.

“The Congress party, during its ten years in opposition, never stood in the way of any investment or developmental initiative undertaken by the then BRS government. We always prioritized the interests of the state and its people,” he stated. “It is unfortunate that BRS is now indulging in exactly the opposite behaviour by opposing every step taken by this government to boost industrialisation and employment.”

Minister Sridhar Babu emphasized that such obstructionist politics hurt the aspirations of thousands of graduates and unemployed youth who are eagerly looking towards the state government for new job avenues and opportunities. “Opposing industries is equivalent to opposing jobs and the future of Telangana’s youth,” he said.

Despite these hurdles, the Minister highlighted that the Congress-led government has made significant strides in a short span. “In the last 18 months, Telangana has signed MoUs worth Rs 3.5 lakh crore, demonstrating investor confidence and our proactive approach. Additionally, we have successfully filled 60,000 government jobs, reflecting our commitment to employment generation.”
