Appealing to voters, the Minister urged them to elect Congress candidates with a huge majority by voting for the Hand symbol, stating that development of Moodu Chinthalapally municipality
Launching a blistering attack on BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao, Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said KCR has no moral right to project himself as the “Father of Telangana”, asserting that the State was achieved through the sacrifices of over 1,100 martyrs.
Addressing municipal election campaign meetings and a roadshow in Moodu Chinthalapally and Aliabad under the Medchal constituency on Wednesday, the Minister said the Telangana movement was a collective struggle of people from all sections of society, cutting across caste and religion.
Recalling the supreme sacrifices of Srikanthachari of Nalgonda, who immolated himself during the movement, and constable Kishthaiah, who died by suicide, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said such martyrs were the true architects of Telangana. “Ignoring their sacrifices and claiming sole credit is an injustice to history,” he said.
He said it was Sonia Gandhi who, moved by the sacrifices of Telangana’s youth, took the historic decision to grant statehood. He alleged that while Telangana was built on sacrifice, the former Chief Minister’s family amassed enormous wealth after coming to power.
“After adopting Moodu Chinthalapally, they could not even construct three houses. Yet, claims are being made about being the ‘Father of Telangana’. Is this title for serving the people or for looting the State?” he asked.
Appealing to voters, the Minister urged them to elect Congress candidates with a huge majority by voting for the Hand symbol, stating that development of Moodu Chinthalapally municipality was possible only under the people’s government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
He stated that he would always remain accessible to the people, and would work closely with local leaders and the Chief Minister to resolve public grievances. “Congress councillors will act as a bridge between the people and the government, ensuring development and welfare,” he said.
The Minister also took strong exception to the BRS’s record, calling upon voters to reject misrule and support Congress for transparent governance and inclusive development.
Vivek slams BRS for looting Telangana
Vivek Venkataswamy, the Minister for Employment and Labour and in-charge of the Medak Parliament elections, has expressed strong criticism towards the BRS party and the Kalvakuntla family, attributing the state's current debt crisis to their governance. He emphasied that the Congress government is actively working to correct the shortcomings left by the previous administration.
In a recent meeting with Congress candidates from Medak Municipality, Vivek accused the BRS party and the Kalvakuntla family of misappropriating state resources over a decade.
"They engaged in corrupt practices by demanding commissions for projects, thereby enhancing their own personal and party wealth," he stated. The Minister further asserted that the assets of the Kalvakuntla family had reached staggering levels and cited that the BRS party currently holds deposits amounting to Rs. 800 crore. Additionally, he claimed that Megha Krishna Reddy contributed Rs 400 crore in electoral bonds to the BRS.
Vivek Venkataswamy contended that while the BRS failed to provide double-bedroom houses to the underprivileged, prominent members of the party, including the former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, his son, daughter, and son-in-law, have constructed extensive farmhouses on large tracts of land.
"No one is refuting the allegations made by Kavitha because all of them are true," he stated.
The Minister accused the previous BRS administration of burdening the prosperous state with a staggering debt of Rs.8 lakh crore, stating that "with an income of only one lakh crore, it is insufficient to cover even the interest."
Vivek expressed confidence, saying, "While we anticipate that candidates from the Congress party will secure 80 percent of the councillor positions statewide, we are assured of achieving a 90 percent victory rate in Medak."
