BRS leader slams 30 per cent Bribe rule
Bharat Rashtra Samithi Working President K.T. Rama Rao has launched a scathing attack on the Congress government during a BRS meeting held at the party’s Khammam district office, with his sharp criticism focused primarily on the three Cabinet Ministers from Khammam district — Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao. KTR alleged that despite having three Cabinet ministers from the district, farmers are unable to get even basic inputs like urea, exposing the complete failure of the Congress government.
KTR accused the ministers of running a “30 per cent commission regime,” stating that no work gets done without bribes. He alleged that even land-related issues are being resolved only by "Bombuleti" (referring to Ponguleti) after demanding 30 per cent of the land value as commission. He charged that Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has also become deeply involved in commission-based politics, and said the Congress government has turned governance into organised loot.
The BRS meeting witnessed the felicitation of newly elected BRS Sarpanches and Deputy Sarpanches by KTR. Congratulating the newly elected representatives, KTR said the BRS had achieved an impressive victory at the grassroots level, with many candidates losing by very narrow margins. He alleged that Congress candidates won through manipulation and that BRS candidates were defeated through recounting irregularities. However, he asserted that the groundwork for Congress’ defeat has already been laid, as public anger against the ruling party is clearly visible in Khammam.
KTR recalled that during BRS rule, Congress had won only a negligible number of Sarpanch seats, whereas even now BRS has secured nearly 40 per cent of the positions. Referring to Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka’s “guarantee card” promise, KTR questioned where those guarantees have disappeared within two years and sarcastically asked where people should keep the guarantee card now.
Highlighting the plight of farmers, KTR said urea is unavailable in shops and is shown only as an advertisement on mobile apps. He accused the government of introducing a new drama in the name of urea cards, pushing farmers into distress. He alleged that the Chief Minister lacks basic knowledge of agriculture, river basins and irrigation projects, and made factual errors even about the location of major projects.
On state finances, KTR clarified that Telangana inherited Rs. 72,000 crore of debt from the undivided state, and by the end of KCR’s tenure the total debt stood at Rs. 3.50 lakh crore, including the share of united Andhra Pradesh. He said the Rs. 2.80 lakh crore borrowed during KCR’s nine-year rule was invested in agriculture, infrastructure and the future of Telangana, unlike the present Congress leaders who, he alleged, are looting the state and paying “Delhi tribute” to protect their positions.
KTR stressed that if people decide, no force can stop change, and reiterated that all real development in Khammam district took place only during KCR’s tenure. Senior leaders including ex-MLAs from the district were also present.
