Union Minister & BJP Telangana State president G. Kishan Reddy today paid tributes to former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee on   centenary birth anniversary celebrations.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the celebrations were being held by the Union government and the BJP. He said several social organisations in the country had decided to celebrate the centenary celebrations till December 25, 2025. “Vajpayeeji's life is a model for the country. He is known as the samrat of the young heart. Thousands of people volunteered to come from all over the country to listen to Vajpayee ji's speech.

The country's democracy was in danger when former PM Indira Gandhi imposed emergency in a dictatorial manner. The freedom of the press has been curtailed. Then the Jana Sangh leaders led by Jayaprakash Narayan  fought. Lakhs of people have been put in jail. At that time, Vajpayeeji was in jail for 18 months. Thousands of leaders like Bangaru Lakshman, Indrasena Reddy, Swayamsevak leaders and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad leaders went to jail to protect democracy,” he said.

He said in 1977, under the leadership of Jayaprakash Narayan, the Jansangh Party was merged with the Janata Party. He said the Congress has no moral right to talk about democracy and added that the  Bharatiya Janata Party does not need a Congress party’s certificate about BR Ambedkar and democracy.

“The Congress insulted Ambedkar at every step of the way. He was not given any assistance. The Congress party defeated Ambedkar twice in the elections. Former PM Nehru is credited with getting Ambedkar to resign as a minister. Bharat Ratna was given to big leaders of the Congress like Indira Gandhi. But the Congress did not agree to give the Bharat Ratna to Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution. The Congress did not want to put Ambedkar's portrait in the Central Hall of Parliament.

Narendra Modi, who took over as the Prime Minister in 2014 under the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party in honour of Dr Ambedkar, has carved out five important places related to Ambedkar as "Panch Teerthas" and made them a fitting place in India's history,” he said, adding that would  inform the people about the family politics, corrupt politics and dictatorial activities of the Congress party and added that the party leaders have to go door-to-door to show the true nature of the Congress party. He urged all the people to participate in the centenary celebrations of Vajpayee.
