Kitex shows interest in investing in AP, says minister

State Handlooms and Textiles, BC welfare, EWS welfare Minister S Savita said on Saturday that Kitex Garments, a world-class company in the textiles sector, has shown interest in investing in Andhra Pradesh. Minister Savita visited the headquarters of Kitex Garments in Kochi, Kerala and said that the company management will soon meet CM Chandrababu Naidu. She inspected the clothes being made there and spoke to the employees. Speaking at a press conference along with Kitek Garments Chairman Sabu Jacob, the Minister said that after Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu came to power, Andhra Pradesh has become a paradise for investments.

She mentioned that in just 10 months, investments worth Rs 9.70 lakh crore have come to the state. She said that the government is giving top priority to provide required infrastructure, including land allocation, electricity and water facility required for investments. She recalled that recently a new textile policy was also introduced. Minister Savita said that  priority is being given to set up Kitex garments in Sathya Sai district as it has good air(Bengaluru Airport), port(Krishnapatnam) and rail connectivity which can give boost to exports. Minister Savita said that cotton is produced in Kurnool and raw material required for kitex garments can be supplied from there.

Minister Savita expressed satisfaction over the maintenance of kitex garment. She mentioned that the business was being run with moral values and not profiteering. She complimented that Kitex's management was respecting 15,000 employees as family members. She made it clear that his government will support the establishment of kitex garments, a world-class company, in every possible way. Kitex is the world's second largest manufacturer of children’s garments and has recently invested Rs 3,600 crore in Telangana.
