Minister for Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Komatireddy Venkat Reddy stated that former minister Ramreddy Damodar Reddy devoted his entire life to the Congress party, affirming that he was a true son of the party.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, along with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao, and several other elected representatives and party leaders from Nalgonda district,  paid homage to former minister Ramreddy Damodar Reddy at a condolence meeting held in Thungathurthy on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Komatireddy described Damodar Reddy as “a true son of the Congress Party” who loved the party more than his own life.

“Back in 1985, when he was the lone Congress MLA in the district, Damodar Reddy worked tirelessly across all constituencies, standing by party workers and dedicating his entire life to the Congress movement,” he recalled.

Calling his demise an irreparable loss to the Congress Party, Komatireddy noted that Damodar Reddy had played a historic role in transforming the drought-prone Thungathurthy region.

“This area once depended solely on rainfall and looked barren. It was Damodar Reddy who fought relentlessly to bring Sriram Sagar Project waters here. He even brought the then Opposition Leader, Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, to this region and stood fearlessly against injustices for the sake of his people,” he said.

Komatireddy emphasised that the region turning green today is a direct result of Damodar Reddy’s struggles and vision. “Some may now claim credit, but the people know the truth,” he remarked.

The Minister said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and senior Congress leaders attended the memorial to express solidarity with the bereaved family and the party cadre who looked up to Damodar Reddy.

“The Congress party stands firmly behind his son Sarvottam Reddy and all those who believed in Damodar Reddy’s leadership,” Komatireddy said, praying for peace to the departed soul of the veteran leader.
