BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao came down heavily on both the Congress and BJP governments, accusing them of betraying farmers and the common people. He alleged that while the Congress government in Telangana was resorting to third-degree torture on farmers demanding urea, the BJP government at the Centre had looted ₹15 lakh crore from people in the name of GST.
Speaking at Telangana Bhavan, KTR ridiculed Prime Minister Modi for reducing GST slabs ahead of the Bihar elections and calling it a festival. “Instead of celebrating, people want their looted ₹15 lakh crore back. What happened to the promise of ₹15 lakh per person, doubling farmers’ incomes, or providing houses for the poor?” he asked. He further lashed out at the Congress government for failing to implement even a single promise from its Farmers’ Declaration and accused CM Revanth Reddy of acting as a “covert CM” to protect Chandrababu Naidu’s interests by delaying Medigadda repairs.
KTR pointed out that while the Karnataka Congress government was spending ₹70,000 crore to raise the Almatti dam height, Telangana’s Kaleshwaram project was being maligned with baseless allegations. He said people must realize how Congress and BJP had collectively failed Telangana, despite electing eight MPs each from the state. He also criticised Revanth Reddy for insulting Telangana by calling it a “cancer patient” and vowed that people would once again rally behind KCR’s leadership. On the occasion, prominent Karimnagar doctors Rohit Reddy and Dr. Gogula Gautami Reddy joined BRS in the presence of KTR.
Congress betrays gig workers too
Earlier in the day, members of the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU) met KTR and explained that despite promises under the Abhayahastam Declaration, the Congress government had not implemented a single welfare measure.
KTR demanded immediate establishment of a Gig Workers Welfare Board, fair wages, social security, and ₹5 lakh compensation to the families of deceased gig workers. He recalled that Rahul Gandhi himself had promised responsibility for their welfare and accused Congress of betraying gig workers just like farmers. He assured that BRS would stand by gig workers until justice was done.
