BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao has demanded an immediate and comprehensive investigation into an alleged ₹1,600 crore coal scam in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), claiming that nearly 40 lakh metric tonnes of coal shown in official records are missing from stockyards. In a letter addressed to Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy, KTR urged the Centre to order a probe by a sitting judge and uncover the truth behind the alleged disappearance of coal worth thousands of crores.

KTR alleged that official records on Singareni's website indicated the availability of around 40 lakh metric tonnes of coal across several mines, including Mandamarri, Srirampur, Ramagundam, Bhupalpally, Yellandu and Sathupalli. However, according to information received from the field, the coal stock was not physically available at the designated stock points, raising serious questions over the discrepancy.

He questioned how such a massive gap could exist despite records showing payment of coal cess and income tax on the reported stock. KTR also expressed concern over the absence of inspections by Central Coal Ministry officials and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), saying the lack of scrutiny had intensified suspicions among workers and the public.

Accusing the Congress government of turning Singareni into a centre of recurring scandals, KTR linked the alleged coal stock discrepancy to a series of controversies that have surfaced since the change of government. He referred to the Naini coal mine tender issue and alleged irregularities in solar power projects, diesel procurement and explosive purchases.

The BRS leader further alleged that both the State and Central governments were failing to protect Telangana's valuable public asset and questioned whether there was a tacit understanding between the Congress and BJP on the issue. He demanded that an all party delegation be immediately sent to the concerned mines to verify the stock position and expose any wrongdoing.

Warning of intensified agitation if action is not taken, KTR said BRS would stand with Singareni workers and launch a major protest movement.
