BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing the Congress government of betraying farmers, Dalits, tribals and other weaker sections by reneging on its election promises and forcibly acquiring assigned lands in the name of industrial development.
Addressing the Parigi Assembly constituency BRS general body meeting at S Garden, KTR alleged that the government was illegally taking away assigned lands belonging to poor Dalit and tribal families under the guise of setting up industrial parks. He claimed similar attempts were being made in Parigi under the leadership of the local Congress MLA and assured that the BRS would stand firmly with affected farmers, including pursuing legal action if necessary.
Referring to the incidents at Lagacharla, KTR accused the government of harassing farmers who refused to part with their lands by filing police cases and targeting tribal youth. He said land acquisition should be carried out only after granting full ownership rights, paying adequate compensation and obtaining farmers' consent.
KTR further alleged that the Congress had failed to fulfil its promises on farmer welfare, pensions, crop bonuses and financial assistance to tenant farmers and agricultural labourers. He also criticised the government's irrigation plans for Parigi, alleging that an expensive lift irrigation project was being proposed instead of the gravity based scheme envisioned by K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Calling upon party workers to intensify efforts, KTR urged them to strengthen the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) awareness campaign and party membership drive. He warned against alleged harassment of BRS workers through false police cases and assured cadres that the party would protect their interests while recognising their contribution in the future.
