BRS working president and Sircilla MLA K T Rama Rao has filed a Rs 10 crore defamation suit against Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, in the Hyderabad City Civil Court. KTR accuses Bandi Sanjay of making “false and defamatory” statements during an August 8, 2025, press conference, where he allegedly linked KTR to the misuse of Telangana’s Special Intelligence Branch (SIB), phone tapping, and financial irregularities.
The suit, filed through advocate P. Viswajanani, also names media outlets and social platforms that aired or shared the remarks. KTR seeks a public apology, removal of the defamatory content, and a court injunction against further publication. He claims the statements were politically motivated, aiming to damage his reputation. Despite a legal notice issued on August 11, Bandi Sanjay did not apologize, prompting legal action.
“A Union Minister making such baseless allegations damages the dignity and trust in public representatives,” the plaint states. The case has been admitted, and the court is expected to hear KTR’s plea for damages and restraining orders soon.
