Bharat Rashtra Samithi Working President K.T. Rama Rao, strongly condemned what he described as the “vindictive and authoritarian conduct” of the Congress government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy against BRS President and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
KTR questioned the rationale behind what he termed as a deliberate attempt to harass a senior opposition leader, despite KCR officially responding to police notices and clearly communicating his current residential address. He criticized the police for allegedly visiting an address where KCR does not reside and pasting notices on the gate late at night, calling it an act driven by arrogance and political vendetta rather than law.
He further alleged that the police had violated established legal norms, including provisions that mandate questioning senior citizens above 65 years at their place of residence. KTR asked whether the police were unaware of Standard Operating Procedures or were being used as “mere instruments” to intimidate opposition leaders. Asserting BRS’ faith in the Constitution, law, and justice, KTR warned that all illegal cases would be fought legally and every wrongdoing of the government would be exposed before the people of Telangana. He said the public was closely watching the government’s actions and would respond decisively at the appropriate time.
Meanwhile, KCR, in his detailed response to the fresh notices issued by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), strongly objected to the manner in which the notices were served. He stated that the SIT officials acted in clear violation of the Constitution, the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and Supreme Court guidelines. KCR pointed out that under Section 160 of the CrPC, persons above 65 years must be examined at their place of residence, a fact he had already brought to the notice of the authorities.
He also cited the Supreme Court judgment in Satender Kumar Antil vs CBI, which mandates lawful and proper service of notices, asserting that pasting notices on walls or sending them through informal means is illegal and amounts to contempt of court. KCR maintained that the second notice was invalid as it was neither lawfully served nor issued within the jurisdiction of the concerned police station.
Despite these objections, KCR stated that as a former Chief Minister, Leader of the Opposition, and a responsible citizen, he would cooperate with the investigation. He informed the SIT that he would be available at his Nandinagar residence at 3 PM as specified, reiterating that his statement should ideally be recorded at his Erravelli residence in accordance with the law.
