The Bonalu festival, a symbol of Telangana's self-respect and culture, was celebrated with grandeur at Secunderabad’s Ujjaini Mahankali and Balkampet Yellamma temples, according to PCC Vice President Dr. Kota Neelima. She noted that a record 25 lakh devotees visited the two temples, surpassing last year's turnout.
Dr. Neelima credited the Congress government for its dedication to ensuring the festival's success. She highlighted the coordination between various departments, including police, GHMC sanitation, and water works, which began a month before the event. Special arrangements, such as water and chairs in queues for elderly and children, were made for the convenience of devotees. Ministers Konda Surekha and Ponnam Prabhakar offered the first Bonam, while Chief Minister Revanth Reddy presented silk clothes to the deities.
Over 250 officials from the Endowments Department, 500 GHMC staff, and 4,000 police personnel were deployed, along with 3,000 volunteers, to ensure smooth operations. More than 10 lakh laddus, 7 lakh vadas, and 11 lakh pulihora packets were distributed. Free prasadam was provided this year to prevent public inconvenience. The government also formed trust boards at both temples to oversee the event's successful conduct.
