Andhra Loyola College in Vijayawada, which has a long history, has been restored to its autonomous status. Though the erstwhile autonomous status ended in the academic year 2022-23, the college management did not approach the University Grants Commission(UGC) for further renewal. However, the Andhra Loyola College continues to have the status of an autonomous university.

In the wake of the recent allegations and criticism, Krishna University has responded and issued notices to the college. Following this, the college management again applied to the UGC seeking all permissions for autonomous status with full information. In this context, the UGC committee members, which met recently, conducted a thorough scrutiny of the college applications, the infrastructure provided to the students and the ground realities and decided to give the college autonomous status again.

This autonomous status has been granted to the college for about ten years from the academic year 2022-23 to 2031-32 The UGC has issued full instructions in this regard to Krishna University. In an order issued to the Registrar of Krishna University, the UGC has made it clear that one must apply for renewal three months before the expiry of the order, which is currently being issued for a period of 10 years. The students and their parents, teachers and staff management are happy that the college has now been given autonomous status again.
