Amidst massive public enthusiasm and high-voltage party fervor, the Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) annual conclave, Mahanadu, commenced with grandeur in Kadapa on Tuesday. The venue transformed into a sea of yellow as delegates, leaders, and cadres from across Andhra Pradesh arrived to mark the party’s first major gathering following its resounding victory in the 2024 elections.
The event began with party national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu completing his official registration and touring a photo exhibition charting the party’s historic journey. He then ascended the main stage, greeted by senior leaders, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and newly inducted ministers. With ceremonial fervor, Chandrababu lit the traditional lamp to inaugurate the proceedings, as the iconic anthem "Maa Telugu Talliki Mallepoodanda" echoed across the grounds, evoking emotion and pride among the party faithful.
This year’s Mahanadu carries added significance — it is the first after TDP’s return to power. Over the three-day convention, party leaders will deliberate on ideological reaffirmation, constitutional amendments, and the roadmap for the next four decades.
One of the highlights was the unveiling of the new campaign and action logo – "Naa Telugu Kutumbam", accompanied by a six-principle charter aiming to reshape the party’s future while cementing its core values.
Addressing the gathering, TDP National General Secretary and State Minister Nara Lokesh outlined a visionary framework designed to adapt the party to changing times and evolving public needs. “These six resolutions are not mere promises but sacred responsibilities. We pledge to implement them with sincerity to bring meaningful change in people’s lives,” Lokesh declared with conviction.
He emphasized that the resolutions were crafted keeping in mind the aspirations of all social strata, aiming to construct an inclusive, progressive Andhra Pradesh. He described the initiative as part of a long-term strategy to sustain the party’s relevance and public service legacy for the next 40 years.
In a pointed remark aimed at the previous government, Lokesh accused the YSRCP regime of disrespecting democratic values and women. “They humiliated mothers inside the Assembly and chased their own kin out of their homes,” he said, referencing past incidents with biting sarcasm.
Throughout the speech, Lokesh maintained that TDP is not new to power or opposition but is seasoned in both, with its commitment to public welfare unshaken. He thanked every grassroots worker who "held the party flag high, even during the darkest days," and said the party owes its resurgence to their dedication.
“This Mahanadu is not just a celebration of victory. It’s a commitment to build a corruption-free, development-driven Andhra Pradesh that places people at its center,” Lokesh declared.
The Six Resolutions:
1. Global Recognition of Telugu Identity
TDP will intensify efforts to project Telugu culture and pride on international platforms, continuing the legacy of NTR and Chandrababu efforts to give Telugu people global visibility.
2. Youth Empowerment (Yuvagalam)
Lokesh underscored the party’s commitment to fostering opportunities for youth, citing past achievements in attracting top corporations and generating employment. A target of 20 lakh jobs was announced for the coming years.
3. Women Empowerment (Sthree Shakti)
Reaffirming the party’s progressive stance, Lokesh highlighted TDP’s historical commitment to women’s rights, pledging enhanced participation, safety, and leadership roles for women within the party and society.
4. Social Re-engineering for the Poor
TDP aims to overhaul welfare mechanisms with a focus on poverty eradication through innovative pro-poor policies under the P4 model, ensuring dignity and opportunity for marginalized communities.
5. Farmer-Centric Development
"Annadata is our lifeline," said Lokesh. The party pledged continued support to the agricultural sector with fair prices, better irrigation, and robust financial safety nets.
6. Cadre Empowerment –
‘The Worker is the Leader’ Lokesh paid homage to party workers, terming them as the true force behind TDP. He promised insurance, healthcare, and livelihood support, along with structured elevation opportunities within the party.
