In a major crackdown, the Eagle Telangana Task Force dismantled an interstate drug racket operating around Mahindra University, arresting four individuals on Tuesday. Seized from the suspects were 1.15 kg of marijuana, 47 grams of high-grade OG weed, packaging materials, weighing scales, and other incriminating evidence.

The arrested were identified as Nevelle Tongbram (21) of Manipur, Ambati Ganesh (24) and B Shiva Kumar (26) of Jeedimetla, and Mohd Ashar Jawed Khan (21), a Mahindra University student from Delhi. Nevelle and Ashar allegedly handled on-campus distribution, while Ganesh and Shiva Kumar managed bulk procurement and supply across Hyderabad.

The arrests followed an investigation into the Malnadu Restaurant drug case, where drugs were traced back to students through parcels sent via Sree Maruti Couriers, revealing a structured supply chain. Investigators found links to suppliers in Delhi and Bidar, and connections to foreign-controlled networks.

Drugs were shipped in courier packages disguised as regular deliveries, with payments made via UPI and ATM deposits to avoid detection. Two other students were found in contact with a Nigerian national named Nick, accused of supplying MDMA pills through similar means.

So far, nearly 50 students have been identified as drug users and will be booked under the NDPS Act. ‘This case shows how students are not just consuming but also distributing drugs, risking their education and future,’ an official warned, urging vigilance from parents and institutions. The Cyberabad Narcotics Police Station continues its probe into the network.
