The Fast Track Special Court at Medchal has sentenced Balbar Adhikari, 36, a fast food worker from Medak district, to ten years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 for raping a minor girl. He was convicted under Section 376(1) IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act.
The incident occurred on June 13, 2015, when the victim, an eighth-standard student, was at home with her sisters. Adhikari entered their house under the pretext of asking for water, locked the door, tied the girl’s hands and legs, gagged her, and sexually assaulted her. Her younger sister raised an alarm, forcing the accused to flee.
Police arrested him on June 15, 2015, and filed a charge sheet after investigation. Judge K. Venkatesh pronounced the verdict, awarding Rs 1,00,000 compensation to the victim. The judgment underscores swift justice in child sexual abuse cases.
