Senior BJP leader and Dr M Channa Reddy Memorial Trust Secretary, Marri Shashidhar Reddy, presented a compelling case to Maharashtra's Governor, CP Radhakrishnan, on Thursday at the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.
Reddy highlighted the potential of Hanumantha Rao's innovative four-phase water process as a solution to the state's water security challenges and drought prevention.
During their hour-long meeting, Shashidhar Reddy detailed the success of the Hanumantha Rao model in increasing water availability results that have surpassed those of other watershed development programs. He pointed to the remarkable outcomes observed in Gottigaripalli village in Telangana and Rajasthan, where the concept has proven effective in tackling drought.
Drawing parallels with the actions taken by former Maharashtra Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao, who utilized his powers to issue directives to various institutions, Reddy urged the current Governor to consider implementing this proven watershed development model in Maharashtra, to ensure long-term water security and drought resilience for the state.
The Governor assured that a pilot project will be undertaken in one taluka in collaboration with one of the agricultural universities, with the inputs of the Trust.
