The Telangana government is gearing up to organise the Medaram Sammakka–Saralamma Jatara from January 28 to 31 on an unprecedented scale, with an estimated footfall of nearly three crore devotees. With pilgrims expected from across Telangana and neighbouring states, the government aims to conduct the mega tribal festival on lines comparable to the Kumbh Mela, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience. The arrangements are being closely monitored by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

This was stated at a high-level review meeting held at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat, attended by Ministers Adluri Laxman Kumar (Tribal Welfare and SC Welfare) and Dansari Anasuya (Seethakka) (Panchayat Raj, Women and Child Welfare), along with Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, senior police officials and heads of departments.

Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar said that while around 1.5 crore devotees attended the Jatara in 2024, a record turnout is expected this year due to large-scale arrangements and improved infrastructure. The government has sanctioned over Rs 150 crore exclusively for Jatara-related works. He urged officials to treat the event as a collective responsibility and ensure flawless execution.

Comprehensive arrangements are being made for infrastructure, security, transport, sanitation, drinking water and medical services. Direction signboards and banners will be placed on all major and internal roads leading to Medaram, while traffic will be managed through route maps, one-way systems and drone-based monitoring to avoid congestion.

Given the expected influx from Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh, large-scale arrangements are being made for accommodation, parking and transport. Parking facilities will be uniform, with no distinction between VIPs and general devotees.

Minister Seethakka said the Chief Minister has sanctioned an additional Rs. 101 crore for restoration and development of the gaddelu, taking the total allocation to Rs.  251 crore. She said sanitation, drinking water, transport and security are receiving special focus, with a substantial increase in toilets. On peak days, daily footfall may reach 40 lakh devotees.

Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao directed departments to complete works on time and widely publicise information on facilities and transport, including through a mobile app or QR code system.

The Mulugu District Collector presented a status report, and the special logo, mobile app and promotional videos for the Jatara were formally launched.
