Doctors at Medicover Hospital, Madhapur, performed a complex surgery on a 65-year-old throat cancer patient from near Karimnagar by removing the recurrent cancer and restoring his ability to speak. Despite being given radiation therapy treatment, the cancer spread to the voice box, causing severe difficulty in speaking and breathing.
As his condition worsened, the patient approached Medicover Hospital, Madhapur where a multidisciplinary team led by Dr. Ashok Prithviraj, ENT and Head & Neck Surgeon, Dr. G. V. Nagarjuna Reddy, ENT and Head & Neck Cancer Surgeon and Chief Anesthesiologist Dr. Venugopal performed the surgery.
The team successfully removed the entire cancerous growth. Speaking about the case, Dr. Ashok Prithviraj mentioned that the doctors were able to completely remove the cancer and restore the patient’s speech with the help of a voice prosthesis. The patient is currently recovering well under the supervision of the medical team and is expected to gradually resume his normal activities.
