Doctors at Medicover Hospitals Secunderabad highlighted that Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) has emerged as a safe treatment option for patients with severe aortic valve disease, particularly those who are considered high-risk or unsuitable for conventional open-heart surgery. Addressing a media conference, the specialists explained how TAVI has revolutionized the treatment of structural heart disease by enabling heart valve replacement without the need for opening the chest.

Dr. Pramod Kumar Kuchulakanti, Chief of Cardiology said that unlike conventional open-heart surgery, the TAVI procedure  reduces pain, blood loss, hospital stay and recovery time, allowing patients to recover sooner. Dr. Sagar Chandrasekhar Bhuyar, Senior Consultant Cardiologist, said that TAVI has become a highly effective option for patients who are unable to undergo conventional surgery due to advanced age, diabetes, kidney disease or other medical conditions.
