Will the Government bell the cat? Or turn a Nelson’s eye. The supply of the essential protein would decide the overall health of thousands of students
The Telangana Dal Millers Association urged Minister for Scheduled Castes Development, Tribal Welfare Department, Minorities Welfare and Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens and Transgender persons, Adluri Laxman Kumar to ensure the supply of Tur Dal to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), Minority, and Tribal Welfare hostels across the state.
In a formal request, the Association emphasized the nutritional importance of Tur dal for hostel students and urged the government to source it from local dall milling industries within Telangana. They highlighted that a consistent supply of this essential protein would contribute to the health and academic performance of students residing in welfare hostels.
The Association also underlined the economic benefits of local procurement. Sourcing from Telangana-based mills would strengthen local supply chains, support farmers, and boost regional agro-industries. This approach, they said, would generate employment and promote self-reliance among small and medium enterprises in the state.
The Dal Millers believe that prioritizing local procurement aligns with the state’s vision of economic growth and self-sufficiency. They expressed confidence that the Minister would support this initiative and help implement a policy that benefits both students and the local economy.
