Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Minister Nimmala Rama Naidu launched a scathing attack on YSR Congress Party president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, accusing him of attempting to create divisions among regions, religions and communities in the state following his party’s defeat in the 2024 Assembly elections. Addressing the media, Rama Naidu alleged that Jagan was deliberately encouraging certain leaders within the YSRCP to engage in controversial activities, ultimately pushing them into legal troubles for political gain. He claimed that several senior leaders had been drawn into such controversies under the former Chief Minister’s leadership.

“The YSRCP has become a factory for producing political controversies, whereas the Telugu Desam Party has always focused on creating strong and responsible leadership,” the minister remarked. Rama Naidu further alleged that the people of Andhra Pradesh had decisively rejected the YSRCP because of its policies and actions during its tenure. Referring to the Tirumala Laddu controversy, he claimed that devotees felt deeply hurt by developments that allegedly undermined the sanctity of temple traditions, contributing to the party’s electoral setback.

The minister also accused Jagan of attempting to create religious tensions through certain individuals and groups, but said the public did not accept such narratives. He contrasted the NDA government’s approach to temple administration with that of the previous YSRCP regime, alleging that key appointments in temple bodies under the former government were limited to individuals close to the party leadership.

On the issue of Kapu reservations, Rama Naidu stated that the previous Chandrababu Naidu government had extended benefits to the community through the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota. He alleged that the YSRCP government later discontinued those provisions, drawing criticism from sections of the community. The minister also dismissed speculation about differences within the NDA alliance, asserting that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan were working in close coordination for the state’s development. He said attempts by political opponents to create divisions within the alliance would not succeed.
