Telangana Minister for IT and Industries, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, met Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy in New Delhi on Wednesday and appealed for the revival of two major defunct central public sector units in Telangana — Cement Corporation of India (CCI) in Adilabad district and Sponge Iron India Limited (SIIL) in Palwancha, Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
Minister Sridhar Babu submitted a representation to the Union Minister, highlighting the Telangana government's commitment to boosting industrial development and employment generation, thereby contributing significantly to the national GDP. He cited the successful revival of the Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL) in Peddapalli as a model, and urged similar attention be given to CCI and SIIL.
“Reviving these industries will not only strengthen Telangana’s industrial ecosystem but also provide valuable employment opportunities to the local population,” Sridhar Babu said, adding that the move would benefit the region’s economy and align with the Centre’s goals of industrial resurgence.
He expressed satisfaction over the positive response from Union Minister Kumaraswamy, who assured that necessary steps would be taken toward the revival of both industries. Sridhar Babu thanked him on behalf of the Telangana government for the assurance and support.
