MLA emphasizes need for village development plans

MLA Gandra Satyanarayana Rao on Thursday emphasized the need to prepare village development plans focused on improving basic infrastructure and delivering tangible benefits to the public and encouraged panchayats to mobilize funds by reaching out to prominent individuals from their villages who are living across India and abroad. The MLA along with District Collector and other officials participated in an awareness seminar on Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDPs) held at the Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC) under the aegis of the Panchayat Raj Department.

The MLA also announced that check dams would be constructed across the Moranchapalli stream at an estimated cost of Rs 320 crore and added that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) had been prepared under the TBM-38 project to provide irrigation facilities to 44,700 acres of farmland. District Collector Rahul Sharma, in his address, urged sarpanches to take the lead in village development by preparing short, medium and long-term development plans covering one, two and three year periods respectively.
