MLC Slams ‘Abusive Politics’ of Revanth Govt

27-12-2025 12:00:00 AM

In a sharp attack on the Telangana Congress government, MLC Dr. Sravan Dasoju accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of betraying Gandhian values while presiding over what he termed a “kingdom of abuses.” He said the Congress, which positions itself nationally as a defender of civility and constitutionalism, was practising intimidation, arrogance and “gully-level language” in Telangana instead of governance and development.

Referring to a recent meeting with newly elected Sarpanches in Kodangal, Dr. Dasoju said grassroots leaders expected guidance on the 73rd Constitutional Amendment, gram panchayat responsibilities and village planning. Instead, he alleged, the Chief Minister issued crude threats and used vulgar language, reducing elected representatives to instruments of political vendetta rather than partners in democratic governance.

He said the government’s hypocrisy was also evident in its approach to the “dignity of labour.” The Chief Minister’s remarks mocking opposition leader K.T. Rama Rao’s early career in the US, he said, insulted the values of self-reliance and demeaned Indians working abroad. Dr. Dasoju also pointed to what he called regional bias, alleging preferential treatment to the Chief Minister’s “Andhra son-in-law” in land acquisitions from tribal farmers in Lagacharla for pharma companies, leading to wrongful arrests.

Raising concerns over misuse of public funds, he claimed over ₹100 crore from Singareni workers’ money was allegedly spent on a family trip to watch football star Lionel Messi. He further condemned vulgar remarks allegedly made against former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao at a Rajiv Gandhi statue unveiling, saying such comments, made in the presence of school children, corroded social values.

Contrasting governance records, Dr. Dasoju cited economic growth, increased farm output and welfare schemes during KCR’s tenure, while accusing the present regime of promoting a “broker culture,” stalling welfare promises and avoiding elections out of fear. He warned that democracy would ultimately respond through the ballot, cautioning that arrogance cannot replace accountability.
