Efforts to establish a modern sports stadium in Rayachoti have gathered momentum, with the State Transport, Youth and Sports Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy reviewing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed facility. The project envisages the construction of a multi-sports recreation and recovery complex at an estimated cost of Rs 7.5 crore across three acres. The DPR was examined by the Minister at his chamber in Amaravati, where officials briefed him on the design, infrastructure and phased execution plan. Ramprasad Reddy said the stadium would be built using modern construction techniques and equipped with contemporary facilities, with works expected to commence within the current year. He underscored that the initiative aligns with the government’s objective of encouraging youth participation in sports and identifying local talent.

The proposed complex will offer both indoor and outdoor sports infrastructure. Facilities are planned for kabaddi, cricket, swimming, hockey, football, badminton and carroms, along with dedicated spaces for yoga, Zumba and martial arts training. The design will enable simultaneous training for nearly 100 sportspersons, providing a comprehensive ecosystem for fitness and competitive preparation. A key feature will be an 800-metre walking track, aimed at promoting fitness among the general public in addition to athletes.

The Minister noted that the Rayachoti stadium would play a pivotal role in nurturing sporting talent in the region and creating structured opportunities for youth to pursue sports professionally. Once completed, the facility is expected to become a major hub for sports training and recreational activities in the constituency.
