4000 MW Yadadri Thermal Power Station coming up at Veerlapalem

Chairman has directed all the concerned officials and contractors of TGGENCO to complete all the pending works of Railway siding of YTPS to receive 12-14 coal rakes at YTPS site

TGGENCO is establishing 4000 MW (SX800 MW) Yadedri Thermal Power Station at Veerlapalem Village, Dameracheria, Nalgonda District. The Unit-2 (800 MW) is commissioned in January 2025 and Una-1 (800 MW) is scheduled to be commissioned in July 2025. The balance three units (3X800 MW) will be commissioned by February 2026. The total coal requirement for all the five units will be around 50,000 Metric Tonnes per day (12-14 railway rakes) from SCCL.

TGGENCO has constructed Railway line from Janpahad Take-off point to YTPS site with a cost of Rs 500 crores. Presently, S C. Railways are supplying four (4) rakes per day to YTPS and the requirement will be around 12-14 rakes for all the five (5) units from December 2025 onwards. As per the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister and Principal Secretary, Energy Department, a meeting was conducted on July 7 by Chairman & Managing Director, TGGENCO and reviewed the status of construction works of Railway siding of YTPS and preparedness for movement of 12-14 coal rakes with TGGENCO and Railway Officials.

During the meeting, Chairman & Managing Director has directed all the concerned Officials and contractors of TGGENCO to complete all the pending works of Railway siding of YTPS to receive 12-14 coal rakes at YTPS site from December 2025 onwards. Principal Chief Operations Manager, S.C. Railways has informed that, the Railways are fully prepared for movement of required quantity of coal to YTPS with the existing Rail net work and Railways are also taking up for doubling of railway lines between Domakal-BDCR and Motamarri-Vishnupuram to deal with the increased traffic.

Principal Chief Operations Manager, S. C. Railways has also advised TGGENCO to examine other alternative sources of coal supplies to meet the requirement of YTPS since SCCL may not be in a position to meet the future demand. During the meeting, B. Nagya, IRTS, Director (Coal & Logistics), TGGENCO Srl. A. Ajay, Director (Civil), TGGENCO, K. Padmaja, IRTS, PCOM, South Central Railways and R. Sudharshan, IRTS, CFTM, South Central Railways were present.
