In a heartwarming scene at the ZP High School in Kothacheruvu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stepped into the shoes of a teacher, delivering a 45-minute Social Science lesson to Class 8 students. Joining him was IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh, who played the role of a student, listening attentively from the front bench.
The event was part of the state government's ambitious Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) 2.0 campaign, which is being held simultaneously in over 61,000 government, aided, and unaided schools and junior colleges across Andhra Pradesh. An estimated 2.28 crore people have participated in the statewide initiative aimed at fostering greater engagement between students, teachers, and parents.
At the Kothacheruvu school, CM Naidu received a grand welcome with an NCC cadet guard of honour. As he entered the school premises, students and parents gathered to greet him. He, along with Minister Lokesh, admired artwork and posters made by students depicting the government's flagship scheme Talliki Vandanam.
After touring the campus and directing officials to beautify the premises further, Naidu met with students and their families, personally reviewing holistic progress cards that included academic performance, attendance, behavior, health, and other key parameters.
He emphasized the importance of regular attendance and consistent effort, counseling parents to encourage their children to aim higher. Later, in a spirited move, the Chief Minister entered a classroom of Class 8 students and took over as the teacher. He taught a detailed lesson on resources and sustainability, covering human, natural, renewable, and non-renewable resources. He also explained the importance of water conservation, the role of patents, fuel generation, and how technology shapes the future.
Minister Nara Lokesh, taking the role of an eager student, sat in the front row and attentively listened to the CM’s lecture, occasionally engaging in light-hearted interaction. The classroom echoed with energy as the CM posed questions and applauded students’ responses, encouraging critical thinking and awareness of social responsibility.
In a candid moment, the Chief Minister asked students about their career aspirations—be it becoming police officers, doctors, IAS officers, or cricketers. Smiles and laughter filled the room when Lokesh asked if anyone wanted to be a politician, and none raised their hands. Naidu chuckled and used the moment to praise his son, saying, “Lokesh studied well, became a minister, implemented Talliki Vandanam, and has brought meaningful reforms in education.”
The day’s event concluded with photo sessions, interactions, and promises of continued reforms in school infrastructure and student support. Students also took pledges to plant saplings in their mothers’ names, echoing the government’s theme of linking education with environmental consciousness and parental respect.
