Metro India News | AMARAVATI : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay held talks in Amaravati on Tuesday on key inter-State water-sharing issues, including the release of Krishna river water to Chennai under the Telugu Ganga project and the proposed Godavari-Krishna-Cauvery river-linking initiative.

The meeting at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office assumed significance amid concerns over the shortfall in Krishna water supplied to Tamil Nadu against its allocation this year. The discussions were expected to focus on ensuring drinking water supplies to Chennai and exploring ways to improve the utilisation of available river water.

This was Vijay’s first official visit to Andhra Pradesh after assuming office as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. He arrived at Gannavaram airport from Chennai by special aircraft, where Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana and senior State officials received him on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh government.

Vijay subsequently visited the Kanaka Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada and offered prayers. Temple officials welcomed him with purna kumbham.
