Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh has strongly criticized the previous YSR Congress government, accusing it of halting development projects initiated under the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) regime. He stated that the newly formed coalition government, despite financial constraints, has prioritized clearing the pending dues left by the previous administration.
Taking to social media, Lokesh emphasized that as soon as the new government assumed office, it released funds for fee reimbursement arrears, which had been neglected by the previous administration. “Despite economic difficulties, we have allocated funds for fee reimbursement backlogs. However, when Jagan Mohan Reddy came to power in 2019, he failed to clear the dues left by the earlier government and stalled key development projects started by the TDP,” he alleged.
Lokesh accused the former Chief Minister of intentionally destroying partially completed projects, calling it an example of his “autocratic mindset”. He further stated that democratic governance requires continuity in welfare and development programs, regardless of political transitions.
“It has been a tradition in governance to continue welfare and infrastructure projects even after a change in power. However, Jagan disrupted this democratic spirit with his destructive policies. Development should not be held hostage to political vendettas,” he asserted.
The minister also took a sharp jibe at Jagan Mohan Reddy, stating that he should realize that governments are permanent, while elections are temporary. “Jagan needs to understand that democracy does not end with elections. He must acknowledge that governance is about serving the people, not about erasing the work of previous administrations,” Lokesh remarked.
