Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday addressed a massive Praja Vijayotsava Sabha in Devarakonda after laying the foundation stone for several development projects. In a fiery, politically charged speech, he asserted that Devarakonda had once again proved to be a strong bastion of the Congress, crediting party workers for safeguarding its political legacy.
Revanth Reddy said that the people had used their vote as a “weapon” to dismantle a decade-long rule of exploitation and restore “Indiramma Rajyam”, a governance model based on welfare, justice and dignity for the poor. Recalling Nalgonda’s historic spirit of resistance—from the armed peasant struggle against feudal rule to contemporary people’s movements—he said the district had always been a symbol of courage, consciousness and collective action.
The Chief Minister outlined a series of welfare measures implemented by the Congress government in the last two years. He highlighted the distribution of new ration cards, including 14,000 in Devarakonda alone, free 200 units of electricity to 50 lakh poor households, and the supply of fine-quality rice to more than three crore people. He drew sharp contrasts with BJP-ruled states, stating that Telangana was the only state providing fine rice to all eligible families.
Revanth Reddy also hit out at former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, accusing him of neglecting the poor while building lavish personal properties. He reiterated Congress’ commitment to constructing four lakh Indiramma houses across the state, with special allocation for tribal and Lambada communities. He reminded the gathering that the Congress had historically championed their rights, including reservations and political representation.
On the agriculture front, Revanth Reddy attacked KCR for failing to deliver on loan waivers, contrasting it with the Congress government’s waiver of loans for 25 lakh farmers at a cost of ₹20,000 crore. He reaffirmed that free electricity for farmers was a Congress legacy initiated by Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
The Chief Minister announced new projects for Devarakonda, including a nursing college, development of the Venkateshwara Swamy temple, funding for the school attended by the late Jaipal Reddy, improved road connectivity, and the elevation of Maddimadugu as a spiritual destination. He concluded by expressing confidence that the Congress would remain in power for the next decade, steering Telangana towards leadership in education, healthcare, and governance.
