Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C. Sudharshan Reddy on Saturday announced that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will commence across the state from June 15, 2026, as per the Election Commission of India’s schedule. The large scale exercise aims to prepare a clean, accurate and error free electoral roll by ensuring inclusion of all eligible voters while removing ineligible entries such as deceased, shifted or migrated persons.
Addressing the media at BRKR Bhavan, the CEO said the SIR exercise was last conducted in the then undivided Andhra Pradesh in 2002 and has been carried out ten times across the country so far. He emphasised that no eligible voter would be left out of the rolls, which remains one of the key objectives of the exercise.
Sudharshan Reddy said nearly 35,000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would undertake a comprehensive house to house verification drive across Telangana between June 25 and July 24. BLOs will distribute partially pre printed Enumeration Forms, assist voters in filling them and collect the completed forms after making at least three visits to every household.
The CEO said the preparation phase, including training and printing of forms, would be held from June 15 to June 24. The draft electoral rolls will be published on July 31, followed by the claims and objections period from July 31 to August 30. The final electoral rolls will be published on October 1 after disposal of objections and verification by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs).
He clarified that during the enumeration phase, only the prescribed Enumeration Form is required and no supporting documents need to be submitted at that stage. Names of all electors who submit forms will be included in the draft rolls, while lists of those who fail to submit forms will be displayed booth wise.
The CEO said online enumeration facilities are available through the Election Commission website and the ECINET app. Along with the Voter Helpline number 1950, a “Book a Call with BLO” feature has also been introduced for voter convenience.
He further explained that document verification norms would vary depending on the voter’s date of birth, with parental documentation required for those born after July 1, 1987.
