Washington: RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale clarified that the RSS is not an Indian version of the Ku Klux Klan, rejecting “Hindu supremacist” labels.  At an interactive session at the Hudson Institute in the US, Hosabale said misconceptions about the RSS mirror misunderstandings about India.

He noted Hindu philosophy views the world as one family, which inherently precludes supremacy. “Hindus have never invaded any country,” he remarked while discussing the organisation’s civilisational roots.

Hosabale described the RSS as a voluntary movement dedicated to community service and character building. The organisation conducts 83,000 daily and weekly shakhas to inculcate life values and promote social harmony.

Addressing tensions with minorities, he attributed them to political interests and historical misinterpretations, advocating for continuous dialogue.O n modernisation, Hosabale argued it can coexist with cultural values, citing Japan and China as examples. —PTI
