Inappropriate and abusive content targeting Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on social media has once again triggered a major controversy, with Jana Sena Party leaders and supporters accusing vested interests of indulging in political vendetta through vulgar online attacks.
Despite multiple arrests in similar cases in the past, a section of social media users continues to post obscene comments and morphed visuals aimed at maligning Pawan Kalyan’s image. The latest incident, reported from Guntur district, has drawn sharp condemnation from party leaders and the public alike.
The controversy centres on photographs taken during Pawan Kalyan’s recent visit to Ippatam, where he met elderly resident Indla Nageswaramma. The Deputy Chief Minister had visited the village to honour a promise he made earlier, during which he paid his respects to the elderly woman, embraced her affectionately, and extended financial assistance. He reportedly provided Rs. 50,000 as immediate support, Rs. 1 lakh towards her grandson’s education, and assured the family of continued help.
While the gesture was widely appreciated as an act of compassion and humility, an individual allegedly distorted the photographs and circulated them on social media with obscene captions and insinuations. The posts quickly went viral, provoking outrage among Jana Sena leaders, party workers, and Pawan Kalyan’s supporters, who said the content not only targeted the Deputy Chief Minister but also insulted the dignity of an elderly woman.
Police have identified the accused as a resident of Guntur district and are examining the social media accounts involved. Jana Sena leaders described the act as morally reprehensible, stating that it reflected a lack of respect for women, senior citizens, and basic societal values.
Following the incident, Jana Sena activists lodged formal complaints at local police stations, demanding stringent action against those responsible. They urged authorities to invoke relevant sections of the law to deter the misuse of social media for character assassination and the spread of obscene content.
