Telangana sanctions 4Lakh Indiramma houses

Minister for  Revenue, Housing, Information and Public Relations Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said that nearly four lakh houses have been sanctioned so far under the Indiramma Housing Scheme, and three lakh houses are in various stages of construction.

The Minister announced that one lakh Indiramma houses will be inaugurated by March next year, followed by another two lakh house inaugurations by June.

Speaking to the media in his office at the Secretariat on Friday, the Minister explained the achievements of the Housing department over the past two years.

"The state government has developed a plan to approve Indiramma houses for the underprivileged across all towns and cities, including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. In the coming days, the government will introduce a policy regarding the construction of G+3 buildings," he said.

The Minister announced that the state government is preparing to implement an affordable housing policy aimed at providing reasonably priced homes for the middle class in Telangana while ensuring there is no financial loss to the government. To achieve this, four locations near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) have been identified for the construction of 8,000 to 10,000 houses at each site. Additionally, discussions regarding the Indiramma Housing Scheme will take place at the upcoming Global Summit, he noted.

Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy further mentioned that the state government is contemplating the demolition of dilapidated homes previously built under the Kukatpally Housing Board during the former Congress administration, with plans to permit the development of high-rise apartments in their place.

"We have successfully completed the 2 BHK houses that were left unfinished by the earlier government, at a cost of Rs 700 crore. We have also invested Rs 200 crore to ensure that essential amenities are provided to the respective neighborhoods," he stated.

Ponguleti further stated that the State government will take over the leased or occupied lands under the Housing Board as it has already built retaining walls for 1,000 acres of land.

The Minister said the state government is  taking action within 24 hours of any complaint, as it believes that the Indiramma Housing Scheme should be corruption-free.

"We have suspended 9 Panchayati Raj secretaries who took bribes. Two others have been dismissed from service," Ponguleti said.
