District Collector Kumar Deepak has instructed officials to dry wet paddy at procurement centers before weighing and transporting it to rice mills. On Wednesday, the Collector visited several paddy procurement centres set up in Tekumatla, Indaram, Shetpalli and Narsingapur villages of Jaipur Mandal.
He inspected the ongoing paddy procurement process at these centers. Speaking on the occasion, Collector Kumar Deepak stated that due to unseasonal rains, the wet paddy should be dried quickly and sent to rice mills without delay.
He asked farmers to bring their paddy to the procurement centres as per the prescribed norms. He directed officials to provide drinking water and shade facilities for the convenience of farmers, along with functional weighing machines, paddy cleaners and other necessary amenities at the centers. He also emphasized that the quality of paddy should be strictly checked as per government standards. The Collector assured that payments for the procured paddy would be credited directly to the farmers’ bank accounts.
