Iran-US talks
Islamabad: Pakistan on Thursday said no dates were decided for the second round of talks between the US and Iran. Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi’s statement came amid reports that another round of talks was possible after the latest contacts by the Pakistani side with regional leaders, including the Iranian leadership.
Andrabi said “no dates have been set as yet”. The nuclear issue was among the subjects being discussed by the countries. “We will not comment on the positions of Tehran and the parties involved in the negotiations. This is part of the parties’ trust in us,” Andrabi said, noting the talks were on with a high level of trust and “secrecy”. He said peace in Lebanon was essential for the peace talks.
Meanwhile, Field Marshal Munir met Iranian Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in Tehran on Thursday. No details were provided.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said, “Expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s gracious hosting of dialogue, emphasising it reflects our deep and great bilateral relationship. Our commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region remains strong — and shared.” —PTI
