A frequent flyer and senior citizen, P V Ramana, has raised serious allegations against airport authorities and security personnel at Rajahmundry Airport. In a letter addressed to the Minister for Civil Aviation, Ramana recounted his ordeal while travelling between Rajahmundry and Hyderabad on June 12 and 13.
According to the complaint, Ramana was subjected to humiliating and unnecessary frisking at Rajahmundry airport despite informing security staff about a metallic implant in his body. He claims he was asked to strip, unlike in Hyderabad, where the CISF personnel handled the matter with sensitivity. Additionally, Ramana alleged that Rs 15,000 in cash was stolen from his wallet kept in his bag, which was not sealed at Rajahmundry. He further accused the airport’s metal detectors of being faulty.
In another troubling incident, he claimed that his hired auto was locked by parking attendants during his return, who charged Rs 300 without issuing a proper entry token—raising suspicions of collusion between the parking contractor and airport officials. Ramana has urged the Minister to enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent such incidents and ensure accountability.
