A Dalit man lost his life after being hit by a YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) convoy vehicle during party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to Rentapalla, sparking outrage over blatant violations of police restrictions.

Despite police permitting only 100 participants and three additional vehicles beyond Jagan’s official convoy, YSRCP leaders reportedly mobilized large crowds in defiance of the orders. In response, authorities set up 25 checkpoints and deployed heavy security at Nandigama Adda Road, Sattenapalli, and Rentapalla. The situation turned tragic near Lalpuram highway, close to Etukuru, where a vehicle accompanying Jagan’s convoy struck 53-year-old Chilli Singayya, a resident of Vengalayapalem. Severely injured, the elderly man was allegedly dragged aside and abandoned by YSRCP workers without offering any help.

Local residents, shocked by the callousness, rushed the victim to Guntur Government Hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The incident has sparked strong criticism, with questions being raised over the party’s disregard for public safety and law enforcement protocols during political rallies. Police are yet to confirm if any legal action has been initiated against the vehicle or those involved.
