Peace Conference for National Unity

12-02-2026 12:00:00 AM

The All India Central Council of Imams & Masajid has called for immediate legislative action to combat religious hatred and promote national unity, urging the central government to introduce a National Unity Bill.In a press statement issued ahead of a national peace conference themed "We Are One", Hafiz-O-Qari Muhammad Ali Qadri, President of the Council, emphasized the Islamic principle that the unjust killing of a single person equates to the killing of all humanity, irrespective of faith. He highlighted that this teaching from the Quran underscores the sanctity of life across all religious communities, including Hindus, Muslims, and Christians in India.

Qadri expressed disappointment that, despite Supreme Court directives on related matters, the government has yet to enact specific legislation against religious-based hatred. Such divisions, he warned, are pitting citizens against one another and fostering unacceptable behavior, particularly among the younger generation, which could lead to long-term inhumane tendencies. The Council has strongly recommended the prompt drafting and passage of a National Unity Bill that would establish a committee comprising religious leaders from all faiths.

Patriotism, he noted, remains a top priority for Muslims, who view India as their eternal homeland. The statement reaffirmed the Muslim community's commitment to peace, drawing on the example of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as "Mercy to All Worlds," encompassing people of every religion and nation.

It also highlighted daily prayers offered by Muslims for the nation's leaders—including the President, Prime Minister, Home Minister, Chief Ministers, police, and armed forces—seeking divine protection and strength for them to serve with integrity. Through this initiative, the Council aims to convey to the world that India's Muslims stand for inclusivity, harmony, and unwavering support for any effort promoting love and peace across the country
