The activities of drug syndicates in Hyderabad have once again come to light with the Raidurgam police busting a narcotics network operating from a PG hostel in Anjaiah Nagar, under the limits of the Raidurgam police station. Acting on specific and reliable information, the police carried out a joint operation in the early hours of Monday along with the SOT Rajendranagar team, leading to the arrest of five persons involved in drug peddling and consumption.
Police officials stated that the PG hostel was being used as a base for the supply and use of narcotic substances. Of the five arrested, two were identified as drug peddlers, while the remaining three were drug consumers. During the raid, the police seized 12 grams of MDMA, 8 grams of OG Kush ganja and six mobile phones from the accused. The total value of the seized narcotic substances was estimated at around Rs.1.50 lakh.
Following the seizure, the Raidurgam police registered a case under Cr.No.1472/2025, invoking Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(A), 22(c), 27 and 29 of the NDPS Act. During the course of investigation, it was revealed that Aleem (A1), a native of Vijayawada, was functioning as the main supplier of MDMA in the network. Khammam-based Vamsi Dileep (A2) and Madagani Bala Prakash (A3) were found to be procuring drugs from Bengaluru and transporting them to Hyderabad, where the contraband was being sold at a rate of Rs.6,000 per gram.
The three consumers arrested in the case were identified as Rohith Goud, an IT employee, Manikantha Maniteja, a resident of Prestige High Fields, and Madagani Tarun from Vijayawada. Medical tests conducted on the accused confirmed positive results for ganja and cocaine consumption in some of the cases, police said.
Further investigation revealed that Karthik, a resident of Anantapur, and an unidentified Nigerian national based in Bengaluru played a crucial role in the drug supply chain. Both are currently absconding. The Raidurgam SHO said the arrested accused would be produced before the court and that efforts have been intensified to trace the absconding main suppliers and completely dismantle the drug network operating in the city.
