Retd IPS SA Huda reviews ‘Poems Across Time’

Metro India News | Hyderabad

Syed Anwar Huda, IPS (Retd), Former Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh, has offered his reflections on Poems Across Time: One Family – Three Voices, the anthology edited by Bibhu Acharya.

He notes that the book’s origin itself is a story worth telling. A cache of poems, thought to be lost, was rediscovered during a spring cleaning. This led Bibhu Acharya to bring together the writings of his late brother, Dr. D.P. Acharya, his own works, and those of his son Ansuman Acharya. The result is a collection that spans decades and continents, yet remains united by shared sensibilities.

Mr. Huda highlights the sensitivity of Dr. Acharya, a medical professional who found time to pen poetry that has endured for nearly four decades. He observes that poets, by nature, are deeply attuned to their environment, and this anthology reflects that awareness across generations.

He also comments on the relevance of free verse, which has become the dominant mode of modern poetry since T.S. Eliot, and how this collection resonates with contemporary readers despite the challenges of sustaining attention in the digital age.

Calling the anthology both a tribute and a celebration, Mr. Huda wishes it literary and financial success. He emphasizes that the book demonstrates how poetry continues to hold meaning and relevance, even in times when printed words are often overshadowed by digital distractions.
