Hyderabad City Police have unveiled the Advanced City Surveillance Grid Management Protocol, a comprehensive strategy to modernize and maintain the city’s rapidly expanding CCTV ecosystem.
Central to the initiative is EYES (Empowering Your Everyday Safety), a specialized multidisciplinary team equipped with cutting-edge tools to manage, repair, and maintain over 16,000 police-owned cameras and 50,000 community-contributed feeds, alongside other surveillance assets including body-worn cameras and upcoming police-operated drones.
Each city zone will have two dedicated EYES teams, supported by a Camera Support Call Centre, a Stores unit with RFID-based asset tracking, and a Repair Centre for technical diagnostics and warranty coordination. The framework also includes a Technology Due Diligence Team, a CSR Desk to mobilize community contributions, and a Data Analytics Team for real-time insights and workflow management.
A fleet of ten two-wheelers, four four-wheelers, and a mechanized aerial ladder unit will assist the teams in rapid response. Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar, emphasized that the initiative will reduce downtime, enhance incident management, and foster citizen participation. As part of the CSR drive, Rs 4 lakh was donated by the Christian Leaders Forum toward the city’s surveillance infrastructure.
