Hyderabad police have filed a case over a fake AI-generated video falsely portraying MP and AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi. The video, which circulated widely on social media, misrepresented Owaisi’s statements and actions, raising serious concerns over the spread of misinformation and its potential impact on public sentiment.

Authorities confirmed that the case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2008, and the BNS. An investigation is currently underway to identify those responsible for creating and distributing the deceptive content.

Police have urged the public not to share unverified material and warned that spreading misinformation online carries significant legal consequences. Officials emphasized the growing challenges posed by artificial intelligence in generating misleading media. Authorities also highlighted the importance of stricter monitoring of digital platforms to curb the circulation of such content in the future. The incident underscores the need for vigilance and responsible online behaviour as technology continues to evolve, ensuring that digital media is not misused to manipulate public opinion.
